No new fascism will be allowed to rise, said Ridwan Mazhari, president of Chhatra Jamiat Bangladesh.
He said this in his speech at the pre-anti-fascism march organized by Chhatra Jamiat Bangladesh, an affiliate of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh, at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the capital after Friday (August 7) prayers.
Ridwan Mazhari said, “Some of those who expelled fascism by holding hands and standing shoulder to shoulder in the 2024 mass uprising are today doing politics of division. Unrest is being created on various campuses with the focus on expanding dominance, which is disrupting the normal environment of education.”
He said, “If we, who expelled fascism by holding hands and standing shoulder to shoulder in the 2024 mass uprising, do politics of division today, then the spirit of that movement will be questioned.” “We cannot give them any opportunity to disturb the campus to establish their dominance.” The Chhatra Jamiat president also said, “Conflicts and tensions are being created in various universities and educational institutions of the country over the issue of dominance. Some members of Chhatra Dal and Chhatra Shibir are getting involved in activities that are similar to the role of Chhatra League in the past. No political or organizational identity can be a license to occupy, terrorize or destroy the educational environment on campus.” He said, “We have fought on the streets against the fascist activities of Chhatra League. Today, if the same kind of hegemonic behavior comes from any other organization, Chhatra Jamiat will oppose it too. Hegemonic politics does not become acceptable when an individual, organization or party changes.” Ridwan Mazhari called on student organizations to resolve misunderstandings and disputes among themselves through discussions. He said, “It is the responsibility of all student organizations to ensure a fair environment for education on campus. For this, Chhatra Dal, Chhatra Shibir and other student organizations must work together by avoiding mutual conflicts.”
He also said, “The main desire of the July-August mass uprising was to end discrimination, oppression and authoritarian political culture. Therefore, the repetition of the old fascist culture will not be accepted in the new Bangladesh.”
After the rally, an anti-fascist march was taken out from the north gate of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on the initiative of Chhatra Jamiat Bangladesh. The march circled various roads in Baitul Mukarram and Paltan.
Jamiat Joint Secretary General Maulana Abdul Malik Chowdhury, Chhatra Jamiat Central Vice President Muhammad Nur Hossain, General Secretary Saad Bin Zakir, Joint General Secretary Sheikh Moinul Islam, Organizing Secretary Inamul Hasan Naim, Finance Secretary Hossain Ahmed, Publicity Secretary Ahmed Al Ghazi, Training Secretary Shamsul Arefin, Varsity Secretary Taki Mahmud, Executive Member Saif Bin Jamal and other central leaders were present in the march.
In addition, leaders and activists of various levels of Dhaka Metropolitan Chhatra Jamiat participated in the program.
